The School Board Nominating Committee is seeking candidates for nomination to the Scarsdale Board of Education. In 2013, the SBNC will nominate three candidates to the board to fill the seats of Jill Spieler, Elizabeth Guggenheimer, and Suzanne Seiden. Jill Spieler and Elizabeth Guggenheimer have served and completed two consecutive terms on the Scarsdale Board of Education. Suzanne Seiden, who will be completing her first term, is eligible for re-nomination.

The SBNC invites all residents to propose candidates for the school board. A candidate must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen and a qualified voter in the Scarsdale school district for at least one year prior to May 21, 2013, the date of the school board elections.

Candidates should complete a biographical information form and submit it to the SBNC Chair as soon as possible, but no later than 5:00 PM on February 25, 2013. Forms are available at Scarsdale Village Hall, the Scarsdale Library and the main offices of the seven schools. (Please click here for the BOE Candidate Bio Form. (doc))

For more information about the school board nominating process and/or to obtain a biographical information form electronically, please contact the SBNC Chair (e-mail: sbncchair@gmail.com).

The sitting Board of Education made a presentation to the SBNC on January 20, 2013. They discussed the role of the Scarsdale Board of Education, the time commitment involved in being a Board member, the ideal qualities of a prospective Board member, and other related topics. Community members interested in seeking nomination to the Board of Education slate may find the presentation helpful. A video recording of this is available in seven parts.
